# Repeating a job search

> Run a job search every day or every week on its own, and get an email when it finds new openings.

A repeating search runs the same Targets and filters again on a schedule, so new openings come to you without starting a search by hand. When it finds new jobs, Hiresweep emails you a short list.

<Info>
  You need a search with at least one ticked Target first. See [Discovering jobs](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/discovering-jobs).
</Info>

## Set it up

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open a search">
    On **Discover**, open a finished search or a saved draft.
  </Step>
  <Step title="Choose how often">
    In the **Repeat this search** card, select **Every day** or **Every week**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Hiresweep runs the search with the same Targets and filters. Jobs you already added or dismissed are skipped, and only jobs it hasn't found before count as new.

- A draft that has never searched runs within a few minutes.
- A search that has already run waits one day or one week before its next turn.

<Note>
  You can have one repeating search at a time (operator accounts get one per client). If you set up another,
  Hiresweep asks **Repeat this search instead?** and replaces the old schedule.
</Note>

## Manage it

The repeating search appears on Discover's front page with:

- Its frequency: **Daily**, **Weekly** or **Paused**.
- **Next search** with the date of the next run, or **Won't search until you resume it** while paused.
- **Last search** with the date and how many new jobs it found, or **Nothing new**.

| Control              | What it does                                                    |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Daily / Weekly** | Changes how often it runs. |
| **Pause / Resume** | Stops the schedule for now, and starts it again. |
| Trash icon (**Stop repeating this search**) | Removes the schedule after you confirm with **Stop**. Your earlier searches and their jobs stay. |
| **Email me new jobs** | Turns the email on or off. It is on by default. |

## The new jobs email

When a scheduled search finishes and found at least one new job, you get an email titled with the number of new jobs and the search's name. It lists the top five and links to Discover, where you review them as usual. No email is sent when nothing new turned up.

## When a turn is skipped

A scheduled turn doesn't run when it can't, and the panel says why:

- Your plan doesn't include job searches, or you have used this period's searches or today's limit.
- Another search is already running, or this resume is already being searched.
- Your email address isn't verified.
- Job search is unavailable on the server.
- The client the search belongs to was archived (for [operator accounts](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/working-with-clients)).
- Something went wrong on Hiresweep's side. It tries again at the next turn.

When the reason is your plan, select **See plans**. A skipped turn costs nothing; the schedule tries again at its next turn.

## What it costs

Each scheduled run counts as one job search, the same as a search you start yourself, and only when it finds at least one job. See [Plans and usage](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/plans-and-usage).
